The Land of Smiles: Short Synopsis
Vienna
Count’s daughter Lisa is infatuated with Prince Su Chong of China. Gustav is in love with Lisa, but she dumps him. He decided to remain friends with her. Lisa and the prince got married and headed for China.
China
They begin to live in China. Lisa does not fit in with Chinese customs. The prince’s uncle encourages him to marry four Chinese women as is customary. The prince decides to marry the four women out of necessity. Gustav came to China to meet Lisa. Lisa returns to Vienna with Gustav.
