Der Rosenkavalier: Short Synopsis
The Marschallin and Octavian are lovers. Baron Ochs comes to visit. Since their love is a secret, Octavian dresses up as a woman and pretends to be the maid, Mariandel. The Baron wants her to introduce the Marschallin to a knight who will deliver a silver rose to his bride. The Marschallin recommends Octavian to be the knight of the silver rose.
Octavian delivers a silver rose to Sophie, the Baron’s bride-to-be. Octavian and Sophie fall in love. Octavian traps Baron Ochs. When Marschallin learns of their relationship, she steps aside.
