The Tales of Hoffmann, Les contes d’Hoffmann: Short Synopsis
Hoffmann is at a crossroads, choosing between his path with his old lover Stella or Muse, the goddess of art. The Muse transforms into Hoffmann’s friend Nicklausse (goddess-turned-man) and watches over him.
Hoffmann talks about his love life with three women: a mechanical, an aspiring singer, and a high-class prostitute, all three of whom are his old girlfriend, Stella.
When Stella comes to see Hoffmann, she sees him drunk and leaves. Hoffmann goes on to become a poet.
