RinuccioFlorence is like a blossoming tree, with trunk and branches in Piazza dei Signori, drawing new strength from the clean and fertile valley. And so Florence sprouts and rises, sturdy palaces and slender towers against the starry sky.
The Arno River sings as it kisses the Piazza Santa Croce before entering the estuary. Its song echoes so sweetly that the streams gather in chorus. This is how artists and scholars gather to make Florence richer and brighter.
From the hamlet of Val d’Elsa Arnolfo came down to beautify the tower. From Mugello in the wilderness came Giotto and the brave merchant Medici. Enough of petty hatred and malice. Long live the new people and Gianni Schicchi.
